Terms of Use
All data submitted to the project and database through this data portal, including your name, affiliation, observation location, and photographs you share, may become available to the public; by sharing data, you are consenting to that data becoming available to the public and to third parties. Direct access to the database is limited to: (i) the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation, the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, and database project partners; and (ii) those who have registered for an account with the Western Mussel Atlas and agree to comply with Xerces’ Terms of Use. Please note that not all locations included in Western Mussel Atlas project maps or data files are publicly accessible; many are privately owned or have sensitive resources. If using WMA data to locate or visit sites, first determine access limitations. For private lands that may only be accessed with permission of the landowner, for your own protection from trespass claims, it is recommended that you have written permission. When accessing sites, look for and adhere to markers of private land, such as fences or hedges that define property boundaries, gates whether locker or unlocked, and posted signs prohibiting trespass; respect landowner property rights and do not trespass. Data from the database may only be used for conservation, research, and educational purposes and may not be used for commercial or for-profit purposes. By submitting data, you affirm that you have read, understand and consent to the terms described above.
